Experimental Sculpture with David Trenow   12 - 16 May

COURSE CONTENT: This course is designed for the beginner who would like to try sculpture but has never had the opportunity and also for the more practised artist who would like to develop their ideas. You will be working in a variety of materials - clay, plaster, paper pulp, wire, wood, cement, stone, or found materials.

There will be an introductory talk and demonstration. The course starts with drawing, sketching and modeling from stimuli encountered around the area. The idea is to get some starting points so that they can be developed into 3D. Starting with a small sculpture or maquette modelled in clay, a number of variations of the idea are produced and the selected model will then be developed into a small plaster sculpture.

Bring protective clothing and tough gloves.

PROGRAMME:
Wednesday evening - Welcome to the Moulin, relax and enjoy the ambience with a 3 course dinner with wine.
Thursday and Friday - workshop days which include all meals.
Saturday - a day to relax by the pool, finish a sculpture or maybe visit the local market and town.(lunch & dinner optional)
Sunday - leave after breakfast.

OR leave after breakfast on Saturday 

OR extend your holiday, stay longer and visit the historical sites. Perhaps you'd like a tour of Cognac, or maybe a boat trip on the Charente river, or even discover local chateaux and the countryside on our bicycles.

Paul de Roos Painting Holiday   6 June - 13 June 2010

Open to non-residents if spaces available.

COURSE CONTENT -

Dutch artist, Paul de Roos, who lives in the Charente Maritime, will be teaching water colour painting.   He will be teaching techniques which are fundamental to his style of painting and which include colour mixing, washes, tonality, and composition.  

 

PROGRAMME

Sunday 6 - Welcome reception & enjoy a 3 course dinner with wine.
Monday 7, Tuesday 8 - teaching days.
Wednesday 9 - a free day to relax;  by the pool, draw or paint, or visit the local market and town. 
                        Or borrow bikes and explore...
Thursday 10, Friday 11 - teaching days
Saturday 12 - another free day to relax or finish off a piece of work
Sunday 13 - leave after early breakfast.

All meals are included but if you tell us you want to eat out this will be credited.

Desmond McCarthy Drawing Holiday   30 June - 7 July 2010

COURSE CONTENT -

The artist Desmond McCarthy, visiting Le Moulin from Ireland, specialises in drawing using a range of materials -
Pencil, Charcoal, Pen and Ink.  His course will cover composition, tonality, and perspective.  
Desmond's course goes beyond sketching and addresses all the skills required to produce a finished work of art.

PROGRAMME

Wednesday 30 - Welcome reception & enjoy a 3 course dinner with wine.
Thursday 1, Friday 2 - teaching days.
Saturday 3 - a free day to relax;  by the pool, draw or paint, or visit the local market and town. 
                        Or borrow bikes and explore...
Sunday 4 - visit locality for photography & ideas. 
Monday 5, Tuesday 6 - teaching days
Wednesday 7 - leave after early breakfast.
